Shrove Tuesday & Ash Wednesday Services

HIEC Shrove Tuesday Pancake Cook-off!

Join us February 21 (6-7:30pm) in PORTER DINING HALL for the annual HIEC Shrove Tuesday Pancake Cook-off to benefit the youth of HIEC. This year groups of HI-Chefs will work to create the most unique and tasty pancakes you’ve ever put in your mouth.

Think your idea will cook? Parents, friends of the youth of HIEC, and parishioners are challenged to put together a group of HI-Chefs and ingredients in order to cook your favorite recipe. Teams will playfully compete for the HI Pancake trophy! Winner will be determined by the total number of tips they receive. To enter your team please contact Carol Johns here.

Just want to eat? Advance tickets for the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Cook-off are $8 Adults & $5 kids (5-18 yrs old). Kids 5 and under eat free (family max of $25). Advance tickets can be bought during Adult Formation or after each Sunday service. All tickets at the door cost $10.

On February 22, several Ash Wednesday services occur in the Parish Hall, to give everyone in the parish an opportunity to mark the beginning of this holy season for our community of faith. The liturgies will be held at 7:00 a.m., 12:15 p.m. Continuing at 6:00 p.m., this service includes a liturgy designed specifically for families with young children, &  our final service is held at 7:30 p.m. All include the imposition of ashes & communion. The Parish Choir sings for the liturgy at 7:30 p.m.

In addition, an Ash Wednesday service will be held in the Magnolia Room at Mount Vernon Towers at 10:30 am.
