Keep Plotting Goodness!

Alleluia Christ is Risen!

Friends, I could not be more thankful for the journey of these last few years. In the words of the old gospel song: you have walked with me and talked with me and told me that I am God’s own. You have challenged me and commissioned me and together we have chosen to do a little bit of good in our part of God’s kingdom. Thank you!

As I transition to my new role in Charlotte, I wanted to make sure that you knew how devoted, passionate and committed your Missional Core (formerly known as the Outreach committee) remains to the work of HIEC - to making Georgia a holier place for all God’s children. You see, just this week the Core met with Rev. Bob (interim Rector) to discuss how they will be even more supported through the transition financially, administratively and prayerfully.

Over the coming days you will have opportunities to put your faith to action through support of your local DFCS office or by volunteering at summer programming for children (Emmaus House, Horizons, Los Ninos Primero), or by choosing to bear witness to the burial of children in Georgia, or by supporting HIEC’s new Love. Care. Foster. Ministry with foster families in need, or by bringing donations of food and clothing on Sundays to give as an offering to CAC.

See it clearly friends: there has been and will continue to be lots of OUTREACH happening through HIEC as a result of your commitment to God’s MISSION in the world. Or, as my colleague the Rev. Donna Mote says in her recent book published with Bishop Rob Wright, “God has a mission, and that mission has a Church. The embodied Church is you. Us. We are it."

In the coming days, if you have ideas about how HIEC can be more involved in the community, I encourage you to plug into your Missional Core’s energy, gifts and passion to get this work done collaboratively more than competitively. Remember that WE > ME! If you need anything, do not hesitate to email Kristi Wooten, acting Chair of the Missional Core ( ) and she will move the needle on getting the word out through and across the Core and the parish!

Keep the faith friends. Keep hoping in the One who is Risen. And please, for the sake of all those children who we too late come to know as the holy innocents, keep plotting goodness!
