Shoe Drive | Church of the Common Ground

Outreach

During this season of Lent, let us walk in Jesus’ path and practice God’s love in a meaningful way by collecting new and gently used shoes for our unhoused brothers at the Church of the Common Ground. Typically, these men have only one pair of shoes and walk approximately 10 miles a day regardless of the weather conditions.

Their needs are great, so we have set a goal of 100 pairs of athletic-type shoes and 50 pairs of flip-flops. The following are things to consider:

  • Men’s sizes range from 10 to 13, with 12 to 12-1/2 being the most popular.
  • New shoes are preferably water-resistant styles with good tread.
  • Used shoes should be in good condition with no holes and replacement inserts. Running shoes or less water-resistant styles are also acceptable.
  • Other useful items include support-style socks (men’s size 9-12), no-tie shoelaces, and Vicks VapoRub ointment.

The following are Amazon links to specific styles which can be ordered and shipped to the church. Or there are options at other retailers such as Walmart, which can be dropped off in bins at the Bishop Commons. We will be collecting shoes throughout Lent. If shoes are delivered to your home, please remove them from the boxes, tie them together, and place them in the bins. Thank you for your loving kindness.Amazon wishlist:
