Saturday, April 22, 2017 - Saturday, April 29, 2017
Join us April 22-29 for our next Family Promise week. It is a great way to serve alongside members of other parishes in the service of homeless families in our community. We will need volunteers to help provide meals, overnight support, hospitality, and packing support. Mark your calendars now!
WHAT WE DO
Family Promise is a national program, working through local affiliates, to partner with families in the local area who have become temporarily homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless.
A key component of Family Promise is the Interfaith Hospitality Network working together to provide temporary accommodations, using church/synagogue/masjid as site to feed and sleep one to three families (maximum 6 adults and 8 children) for just one week each quarter.
Laypersons within each congregation volunteer to provide hospitality in various ways…
- Cook an evening meal
- Do a load of laundry
- Help stock a breakfast pantry
- Help set up beds on a Sunday afternoon
- Set a dinner table and eat with our guests
- Play games and/or help with homework
- Stay one overnight to be a resource if needed
Holy Innocents’ is partnering with St. Dunstan’s Episcopal to provide this hospitality: St. Dunstan’s providing site and accommodations; HIEC assisting with on-site support and hospitality.
