Last weekend was spent together at Fall Creek Falls State Park for our annual parish retreat.  The attendance was double over last year and the comments from attendees were positive and filled with energy and excitement. Prior to the start of the parish retreat, the Vestry met for more than 7 hours discussing Vestry roles during the interim,  our parish discussion in January, and reviewing and approving the proposed 2017 budget developed by the Finance Committee.  Our discussions were both forceful and thoughtful with a large focus on the strong desire to increase Sunday attendance from existing parishioners plus newcomers, gain more participation in parish life and mission work, and encourage stronger connections between each other through the aforementioned areas.  We recognize the honor and responsibility that we have on the Vestry and thank you for your deep desire to bring Holy Innocents into a place of energy and joy.  Each vestry member is available as you need to hear from you and to bring any information desired to the vestry for discussion.
Regarding the search process, the nominating committee has been meeting and preparing to host focus groups and launch the parish survey which will drive the parish profile.  While that committee is meeting, the nominating committee is working on fellowship and meeting logistics in order to be ready to begin their work when the profile is completed.  As noted in discussions earlier, candidate names will be received through a designated channel at the proper time in the process.  You will know about it when it is time!
A final note on the parish retreat:  it was a joy to see an intergenerational mix of attendees interacting over game night and during the Eucharist overlooking a glorious vista of lake and trees.  The Vestry gives heartfelt thanks to the retreat committee of Lisa Shunnarah, Mindy Duryea, Craig Wilson, Emily Crouch, Sarah Hyser, Bill Clark, Lisa Shunnarah, and Buddy Crawford for their work and attention to detail. Our parish life springs from our time with each other so as retreat opportunities arise, please consider attending. You will get far more from it than you might expect!
With grateful hearts,

We haven't been to these in sometime.
God willing, we will not miss them in the future.
Well done and many thanks to all
