Carol Johns, the Executive Assistant to the Rector and the Vicar, and overall voice and manager of "many things Holy Innocents'" has announced her plans to retire as of May 31, 2017. She began her work in 2007, during the Galloway-Sullivan interim, assuming not only the details of managing the rector's office, but also overseeing a variety of parish ministries. Not surprising, she names as her primary reason for stepping away from this work the birth of two new grand babies.
Carol has seen and participated in many important happenings in and thru our parish, among them: the arrival of a new rector, the renovation and expansion of the church campus, and the weekly blessings of life with a major Atlanta school next door. Working at one time or another on practically every facet of parish life, Carol has brought our mission and ministries a dedication to precision and details, and a unsurpassed love for the people of this parish.
The other important staff transition is that Rena Stallworth, the Formation and Event Coordinator, has accepted an exciting new position as the Program Coordinator at Restore Health Group. Rena has worn many important hats at Holy Innocents' in her eight years of ministry among us, and like Carol, Rena has had an important touch on nearly every aspect of our parish's life.
Rena's last day with us will be Tuesday, April 18. We will have a "Thank you, Rena" gathering in the Commons on that day from 5:00-6pm. Please come and celebrate Rena's very fine work among us and bid her farewell. Carol will be with us thru the end of May. On Wednesday, May 31, 5:30-6:30pm we will have a "Thank you, Carol" party in the Commons.
In the coming weeks Lisa Zaina and I will formulate a search process to replace these two important staff positions. Please pray for our search and please join us on April 18 and May 31. If you are unable to attend, we invite you to write Rena and/or Carol a note of gratitude.
