Remembering and Looking Forward

I think September has been a month of reflection for all of the Holy Innocents’ family, not just the Vestry. For members of the vestry, we are confident that now is not just a time of remembering our past but one of looking forward with great optimism.

The past seven years has been a period of great transformation under Michael Sullivan’s leadership. Spiritual growth, connectivity to our surrounding community, and the renovations and expansion of our Church and school are areas where we have made incredible progress. And of course, “living into our name” as Holy Innocents’ is perhaps one of the themes that I most associate with Michael’s tenure.

After hearing of Michael’s pending departure to Kanuga, my initial thoughts centered on the challenges of change and the loss of his great leadership. But on reflection, I realize that Holy Innocents’ is well prepared to go through this transition. Our foundation has been strengthened by Michael’s vision and leadership. We are entering an exciting period of spiritual growth and outreach.

Our vestry is thankful, confident and eagerly looking forward to our next chapter. Thanks be to God for the gift of Michael’s years of leading Holy Innocents’! May the spirit guide our path forward in this upcoming period of transition.
