It is with sadness that I join with David Brensinger to announce that Susan West is resigning her position as Assistance Organist at Holy Innocents' because of increased duties in her professional and personal life. The good news is that Susan will remain a parishioner and participate in the choir as her volunteer hours allow.
Susan began her work as our assistant organist in 1989 and has served three "tours" totaling 22 years of service. Most recently she has been in this post consistently since 2005. She has served our parish with excellence and warmth, giving to choir members and parishioners alike a love of music and the accompaniment we need week by week to sing praises to God. Her particular contribution has been to assist David with the myriad of tasks in looking after a robust music program. With her playing and directing, she has enabled one of the strong features of our parish's life and mission.
Susan's last Sunday with us will be July 30. We will recognize her ministry on that day with prayer and thanksgiving.
In the wake of this loss, we are very pleased to announce that as of August 1, we welcome Austin Clark as our new (part-time) Assistant Organist. Austin comes to us with previous service in the Episcopal Church, having most recently served for almost three years at St. Margaret's Church in Carrollton. He resides in Atlanta with his partner, Shannon Gallier, who is the organist/choirmaster at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, Atlanta.
This comes with my prayers and gratitude for Susan's very fine work and for the new ministry of Austin Clark and our ongoing music program.
