Emmaus House, a mission of the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta, serves neighbors of all ages in the Peoplestown area of downtown Atlanta. In addition to our yearly participation supporting Emmaus House Secret Santa Shop and the Children’s Christmas Festival, volunteer opportunities at Emmaus House include but not limited to: office help at the Muriel Lokey Center (Poverty Rights Center), tutoring (arithmetic and reading) at Emmaus House Arts & After School Program, mentoring at Emmaus House Community Art Project for children and teenagers (Saturday mornings). Fall Clean-up for Emmaus House: There will be a fall clean-up/organizing event at Emmaus House on Monday, October 10th from 9 am to 12 Noon. We will be doing everything from cleaning out the attic to filing archival materials to putting the potting shed back into ship shape. (Claiborne’s wording). If you’re off on Columbus Day and/or have some spare time, come down to support & fellowship with the staff of Emmaus House!! Contact Lilia Romero for more information at .
Help stock the Emmaus House Food Pantry: During the month of October, we will be collecting items to help fill the Lokey Center Food Pantry at Emmaus House. Items needed include: 2# bag/box of rice, bags of dry black-eyed peas, medium container of pasta, boxed mac and cheese, oatmeal, 2# bag of grits, large box of non-sugar cereal (not mega box), powdered milk, ramen noodles, 5 oz. Cans of tuna, salmon, chicken, Spam, ham, Vienna Sausage, Canned meat “meals” - beef stew, ravioli, spagettios, canned vegetables, canned beans, pasta sauce, canned tomatoes, canned fruit, peanut butter/jelly, canned soup. Donations can be brought to the church reception area.
