The ESL program at Holy Innocents’ provides an opportunity for immigrant adults to learn English allowing them to grow into a more fulfilling participatory life and contribution to American society. Volunteer opportunities include teachers, substitute teachers, conversation partners, registration assistants, office and front desk volunteers. Teachers sign up to teach 90 minutes per week for a twelve-week session, either Tuesdays or Thursdays [7:00 – 8:30PM] or Saturdays [9:00 – 10:30AM or 10:30 – 12:00 noon]. Teachers receive all necessary training and are provided with easy-to-use teaching materials and lesson plans. For further information on ESL: http://www.eslgeorgia.net/
ESL needs volunteers for the summer session: Summer session will run from May 31-August 27. We need volunteer teachers and registration hosts. Training opportunity for teachers will be on Tuesday, May 17 and Thursday, May 19 from 6:30-8:30pm (you would attend both). We will also have a make-up training session on Saturday, May 21 from 10am-1pm. Training opportunity for registration hosts will be on Monday, May 16 from 6:30-8:00pm. We will also have another training session on Saturday, May 21 from 8:30-10:00am. ESL Monster Book sale has been rescheduled for August 5-7 and they are collecting books, games, DVDs, CDs and educational materials from now til then for the sale. You can leave your donations at the church reception, or if you prefer, we’ll come pick them up! (Either way, you get a tax receipt.)
