We have an opportunity to paint a home on Saturday, June 2 with RSM. They will provide the equipment and will have a supervisor on site. We will provide the paint. The work day will begin at 8 am and end by 3 pm. We will need 20 to 25 people. High school students may participate.

Nicholas House: RSVP to
THURSDAY, JUNE 14 / Noon – 1:00pm / DreamBuilders Luncheon
Once a year, Nicholas House presents a free fundraising luncheon called “DreamBuilders.” My husband Peter and I are hosting a table at this event, and would like you to join us. The lunch will be held at The Lodge (across the street from Peachtree Presbyterian Church on Roswell Road) and you’ll be amazed by how much more you’ll learn about Nicholas House. While there is no charge for you to come, quite frankly it is our hope that we will educate and inspire everyone who attends, and that a donation or pledge might result! Like our Open Door Tours, the luncheon lasts one hour so that guests can return to work in a reasonable amount of time. PLEASE COME!
So, take a look at your schedule, and let me know soon if you can come for either Nick Time, the DreamBuilders Luncheon, or BOTH. Also, take a few minutes to think about someone else you may know from Holy Innocents that you could invite to come too. As a group from our congregation, we have such a positive impact on the lives of the residents of Nicholas House, and in return, they have such a positive impact on our lives too.
Church of the Common Ground
We are asking you to please take the leadership role for one of the Holy Innocents’ dates listed below. If you are unable to go to the service yourself, please enlist someone to go for you! It would be great for some of the groups at Holy Innocents to take a responsibility for a date.
The following are ways you can volunteer:
- Take leadership of one date which would include shopping and attending the service downtown.
- Buy the food from Costco and deliver it to the Church (you will be reimbursed)
- Assist in preparing the lunches at 11:15 on Sunday (a family event) in the workroom near the Parish Hall.
- Deliver the sack lunches to Woodruff park and attend the 1:00 CCG church service.
Dates: June 24, August 5, October 28 and December 16.
Please contact Don Hackney at with any questions. Hope you can join the lunch makers Sunday.
ESL – Volunteers Needed
English for a Successful Living (ESL), an Outreach mission at Holy Innocents’ since 2003,
provides an opportunity for adults to learn English so they may live a more fulfilling life. Volunteers are needed for the upcoming summer session in many areas: teachers (training provided), conversation partners, tutors, teaching assistants, class registration, daycare, front desk assistants, an
d help with ESL Summer Breakfast on August 19. Registration at HIEC is on June 7, 9, 12, 16.
ESL is now pleased to be part of LaAmistad, a volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization that mentors students and educates parents. After school volunteers are needed to tutor students.

Nets for Life Campaign
Every 45 seconds a child dies from malaria, a disease caused by a parasite carried by mosquitoes. One mosquito bite can be deadly. There are an estimated 216 million cases of malaria each year worldwide, resulting in nearly 655,000 deaths.
We don’t have a prevalence of malaria in the U.S., but in Africa the disease is a leading cause of death for children under the age of 5.
Here in America, we spend roughly $10-$20 per year protecting ourselves from mosquito bites by using popular insect repellants such as OFF™ and we spend an additional $20-$50 per year to protect our pets from fleas and ticks.
What if we spent just $12 to purchase a lifesaving mosquito net to protect a child in Africa from malaria?
The Episcopal Church has made the prevention of malaria a priority in 2012. Episcopal Relief and Development has partnered with the Episcopal Dicoese of Atlanta to purchase and send 35,000 nets to sub-Saharan Africa in support of a larger effort to raise $5 million nationwide through the NetsforLife® Inspiration Fund by 2013.
NetsforLife® is a partnership of corporations, foundations, nongovernmental groups, and faith-based organizations working to fight malaria in Africa. NetsforLife® empowers communities to fight malaria by raising awareness of malaria, providing life-saving training, and distributing insecticide-treated mosquito nets to people in Africa.
Join Holy Innocents’ in the fight against malaria in Africa. Give today.
