Giving

Jesus understood the power of giving and sharing all that God has gifted to us.  Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Thank you for investing in the ministry and community of Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church.

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free...
serve one another humbly in love.
  –Galatians 5:13

Dear Friends
I am ready to feel free. After two years of pandemic, construction at the school, and a whole season of worry and dread, I am ready to set down my old burdens and celebrate a new beginning. I am delighted to share that your church leadership has decided that now is the time pay off our mortgage as we conclude our 150th year.

Why pay off the mortgage now? First, we are paying almost $130,000 in interest and principal out of our annual budget. Imagine what we can accomplish by restoring that money to our community! Second, we have an Adjustable-Rate Mortgage which means it is significantly more expensive to pay our mortgage due to inflation. And most importantly, the mortgage was taken out to pay for the building renovation in 2012, a decade ago. The mortgage has held us back for too long. It is time to put down our burdens. As someone who has lost 60 pounds this year, I feel free leaving that weight behind. Imagine how liberating we will all feel, set free to serve the world!

So far we have raised $1.3 million towards our $2 million goal. The challenge is clear. Will you help us to raise $700,000 to put down the burden of this mortgage?

Our goal for the 2023 Annual Stewardship Campaign is to increase our budget by $100,000. This money would be used to increase our outreach funding, deal with inflation increases, and give a raise to the staff that has kept everything humming smoothly. We know that together, we can achieve this goal.Enclosed you will find a chart of the level of giving for our pledges. We invite each of you to take a moment and about what this community means to you. Then, challenge yourself to grow your giving, step by step. Help set our community free so that we can better serve each other and the world.

Our Pledge In-gathering Sunday will be Sunday, October 23. We will gather in worship, the Kirkin’ O’ the Tartan and a picnic to celebrate! If you are unable to attend, please mail your pledge to the church or make a pledge online.

With gratitude for our abundant blessings,

The Rev. Dr. Bill Murray

As a community of believers WE ARE CALLED TO SHARE OUR TALENT AND TREASURE WITH OPEN MINDS AND FULL HEARTS.

why we give

Your act of giving to support this work is an important part of how you put your faith into action. We are called to be good stewards of all the resources entrusted to us. Every decision we make about the way we live our lives and use our resources is an act of stewardship and a tangible expression of our faith. Giving is a way for each of us to live into the life that God calls us to through his unconditional love.

Additional Ways to Give

Endowment & Planned Giving

Endowment and planned giving are ways to ensure Holy Innocents continued presence and legacy for years to come. These funds empower ministry beyond what is possible through annual operating funds and assist us in meeting the inevitable, and often unforeseen, challenges we might face. The Legacy Circle is a group of people who have chosen to remember the church in their will or with generous gifts during their lives.

If you would like more information on how to give in this way and impact your community for generations to come, please contact Caroline Fleming today.

Memorials & GIFTS

Gifts and memorials to Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church are a wonderful way to honor a living friend or remember a loved one. The funds are used to improve and maintain the buildings, plant trees and gardens on the grounds, and to purchase sacramental items needed to celebrate services.

Gifts of Altar Flowers can be given in memory of someone who has died or in thanksgiving for an occasion of celebration. Altar flower gifts are recognized in the bulletin on the weekend of their placement.
